   So beautiful. I recognize many of the actresses here from Ozu's films. Three old women who were geishas deal with money, men and family matters. Makes me reflect about the role of a woman - who sometimes is more of a mother than of an individual - and about the importance of money to obtain respect and raise up the social hierarchy. Naruse is dense but the rhythm is great, dialogue is spontaneous and soundtrack is delicate. Also note wardrobe and shots of villages.
