A really good movie. Not for everyday, quite depressing, but also emotional.
It shows a very dark and hopeless side of Barcelona (or other big cities of the world), which is conveyed by the story of course but also by the dark visual style. I've been to Barcelona shortly after watching this and it is one of my favorite cities in the world - but it's important to see this other side as well.
The story is told in an interesting way. In the beginning you already get a glimpse of the end, some scenes seem very surreal, it's sometimes hard to tell what's real and what isn't. A couple of things were not entirely explained till the very end so it's possible for every viewer to have his own opinion on some issues (e.g. was this scene real or not, what did the dream/vision mean, how did this part of the story really end...) I like such movies that make you think and leave different options of interpretation. Wonderful.
And of course there cannot be enough praise for Javier Bardem. His performance was amazing. He really became that man, he conveyed every little emotion so well, he made me cry when he begged his daughter to remember him... incredible. One of the best actors I know. 10 years 7 months ago -
