You really don't need to know Russian to get the gist of this one.
This was a very popular cartoon in the Soviet Union. Most beloved Soviet cartoons are still incredibly charming today, but while this one has its moments, it will probably come across as very dated for someone seeing it for the first time. In fact, for me its main interest is as a kind of cultural time capsule. For people who grew up in the Soviet Union, though, this cartoon remains the object of intense nostalgic love.
