This is probably what it would look like if Werner Herzog directed a remake of Abbas Kiarostami's A Taste of Cherry. 10 years 7 months ago -

Very impressive American independent with excellent performances from its two leads - Red West playing the bitter and suicidal William and Souleymane Savane as the taxi driver who is determined to help him at all costs. It's a slow burner, and doesn't attempt to answer all the questions it raises about the characters or their motivations and it's all the more refreshing for that. It's an emotional film but manages to tell its story without drifting into mawkishness or sentimentality, which is extremely impressive, but it's Solo's generosity of spirit that will stay with you. Great acting, great writing, great film. 11 years 4 months ago -
