The Director Alfonso Cuaron, who also Directed Children Of Men, should have stayed with the wrest of the Harry Potter Films. This is the only one of the series that feels so Breathtakingly easy to watch. Unlike the other films in the series, this one is just about life, of the character, the relationship and their struggles. Really captured that Atmosphere of the book perfectly. They tried to do the same for Half Blood Prince but failed Miserably.Nilkes
After seeing all the films in the Harry Potter-saga, this one remains my absolute favourite. This film is the only one in the saga that stays very close to the original material. It really feels grown up compared to the first two films and added an air of 'grimness' the following films developed further on.azn_trang
HE WAS THEIR FRIEND!!Timec
Quite possibly the best of the "Harry Potter" films - thank heavens Chris Columbus didn't keep directing.Earring72
HP will never be my thing.....but this was ok.IreneAdler
I generally like this movie: Professor Lupin is really likeable, the movie is a little darker than the ones before, I like the atmosphere and the story itself. My only problem with this film is this: The last part of the third book (from the moment when Ron is bitten by his rat up to the very end) was for me one of the most gripping and exciting parts within all the Harry Potter movies. It was okay in the film, but not nearly as scary as in the book - plus, Peter Pettigrew was absolutely ridiculous.
Sirius Black also differed from my imagination - but by now I think he's cool.
All in all I like the movie but Pettigrew was a disaster.

I particularly enjoyed it. Even better than the first two, in my opinion.violetion
Personally, between this and Deathy Hallows Part 1, I thought this was the best film.Siskoid
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (actually part of my I-MUST-CheckMovies project, one of three Potter films that are) might be the best in the series, but then, I'm biased. I've always been very keen on strong directors. Potter 3's Alfonso Cuaron also made Y Tu Mama Tambien, Children of Men and Gravity; he's a very visual and lyrical director. Chris Columbus who made the first two Potters has recently made... Pixels. So there you go. Azkaban is apparently one of the least faithful adaptations, and I'm happy about that. Movies have to stand on their own, and this one actually relates almost everything to its main plot (except maybe elements of Mundane world sequences - I'm sorry, I just don't want to say "Muggles", the hell?) including the inevitable Quiddich sequence. The acting has improved by virtue of the kids getting older, with Harry turning into an angry teen before our eyes, and the movie has a better look too. It's not just the muted colors or better special effects, it's that Cuaron doesn't feel the need to explain every little magical occurrence the way Columbus did. The magic becomes part of the world, often unmentioned, letting the visuals do the work. The way he changes seasons alone... It's not perfect, of course. Gary Oldman in the title role is really very boring, which takes away from the last act (though I'm always up for a bit of time travel). Emma Thompson's new teacher is much more fun, while the new Dumbledore is a complete re-imagining that still needs to grow on me (but then, the original never did). So now I have a little more motivation to finish the series, but as Cuaron only directed the one, I may stop dead in my tracks again.line-through
My least favorite HP film. It didn't keep up with the book that much.Katt

Predictable and not really quite as fantastic as everyone seems to think. If you think so, one message for you: read more.Showing items 1 – 15 of 16
