All the train sequence it's terrific. Long live to the South Korean cinema. 6 years 11 months ago -

A really great suspenseful film and is beautifully filmed with great acting. There are so many twists and turns going on with the characters that at times you really don't know who you can or can't trust just like the characters themselves. The cinematography is top notch and while the only weakness of the film is the cameo from Byung-hun Lee who feels like he is just put in the film for the sake of him being in it. I wish he had a larger role int he film. The film is easily up there with The Departed, Infernal Affairs, Assassination, and Valkyrie as a really great film about a group of people trying to despite all odds, accomplish the impossible. 5 years 2 months ago -

What a waste of a great cast. And what a horrible return to Korean cinema for Jee-won Kim.
Such a pointless film about the pathetic Korean resistance movement during the glorious Japanese occupation. The movie even tries to make you think that it was the resistance that caused Korea to gain independence. If it wasn't for the shortcomings of IJA in WW2, Korea would still be part of Japan to this day. Oh what a world that would be...
Kang-ho Song seems uninterested throughout the film, and the cameo from Byung-hun Lee doesn't help either. Mr. Silence is as bland as ever.
I just want to know, how you go from directing movies like I Saw The Devil and A Bittersweet Life to this piece of garbage, it's like Chan-wook Park and The Handmaiden all over again. Shame to see Korean cinema in such a decline. And thanks to the recent political upheaval in the country, their cinema will soon be oversaturated with political thrillers. 6 years 10 months ago
