   I don't hesitate to say that the quality of the chick flick has definitely been in a gradual decline since about the 1980s, yet once and a while a good chick flick comes around that both of the sexes can appreciate, this is that movie. One of the reasons this movie works well lies with three things, the script, the supporting cast, and Sandra Bullock. The success of the film mostly lies with Bullock herself, she knows when to turn on the charm and when to play it straight, avoiding with ease of giving a performance that would be clawing and annoying (sometimes the kiss of death for a romantic leading lady performance, see Katherine Heigl in The Ugly Truth). What we get by the time the credits roll is a modestly written, well acted, and an above average romantic comedy. 14 years 2 months ago
