I think he's actually Sean in the final sequence. If you look at the mirror they are standing in front of as the camera pans up, it's Sean and not the Captain.
The film was beautiful, very pretty to look at. However I think the plot is far too simple, and the overall message is one we've heard a million times.
To the people calling the movie predictable or complaining that you new the ending... it's not fiction. Obviously he wasn't going to kill Hitler, because that's not how it happened.
The actors didn't put on fake German accents because they thought it would be condescending. Great movie, vastly underrated.
