@Nine99: I was thinking the same thing, we could create those pending top lists and submit them to the creators of Icheckmovies. It will make their job easier and be rewarding for all of us.

Furthermore, this addition could be very helpful to divide the work of compiling all those pending top lists among several users. Volunteers, I mean.
I wouldn’t like to have imported titles restricted according to their IMDb rating among other things because I know there are some people out there interested in bottom lists and because a universal rating system with that Top 5 can’t be serious, really. Thanks very much for this toy, boys.

It would also be nice if you could "adopt" great personal lists to become official lists, e.g. if I create a list of Academy Award nominated animated shorts, you could make that an official list and so have less work but still a lot of lists.

I'd be interested in seeing a list of the most favorited movies that don't appear in any top list. I understand if people don't want them to be included in the normal 'most favorite' list, so maybe they can go in a separate list.

There's something like 600 movies in ICM now that don't belong to any list, did this bothered anyone before? And suddenly some angry people are threatening to leave this great site because it will add a long sought after nice feature!
One must first read carefully the blog, understand it, then comment. The ICM team is doing a great work which is time consuming and not easy at all.
From all the comments out there, only one was worth the attention, Borisk said: I only hope someone doesn't decide to put http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0000000/ through
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt9999999/ in a text file and add all of the imdb database here.
Well, what if that happens? Why not import all the titles (by ICM team) then let the users look for the movies with the search tool?
What I'm doing now is looking in IMdb for all the 700 movies I've watched, which are not on ICM, then add them to My Movies list, then I'll import them here...well it's lot of work...the other way is much easier.
Now, the question is : is it possible to import all the movies from IMDB? or is it too much for ICM database? And do ICM have a powerful search tool to handle all those?
I'm for this feature and I'm supporting the ICM team!!!

I'm all for the idea. It will only make the site better.
By the way, the site is called "Icheckmovies: How many movies have you seen." And in the presentation it says check movies, and brag about it. Basically, it's a direct invitation to pull out your junk and be a big geek. If you don't like the idea, then this site is definitely not for you.

Thanks for your last comment monty and some others. So it really is about showing of your e-penis and not the love for cinema. I really couldn't care less if guys like you stop using this website if that stupid number next to your name is all you care for.

The thing is we are all anonymous here. This website is not the olympic games. I don't care if you have seen 2000 or 200 movies. Personaly i use this website for myself. It's a very good way to get some structure into watching movies. The more movies i can check here the better.

I really like the Top ICM lists, but they dont represent all the movies I enjoy. Just because a film isnt on a Top 100 doesnt mean it doesnt count. I want to be able to add every film Ive seen (which is ALOT more than what ICM has listed).

I cant wait for 2.0!! Keep up the great work guys!

I think that it was the missing tool to this great website!

And yes, the number of checked movies will only take into account those movies that belong to one or more top lists, just like it is now. The competitive aspect of the website is thus left unchanged.

I'm actually kinda surprised by the comments, but maybe I need to put some things straight. First of all, the focus of the website does not change, this is just an additional feature. Top lists will remain the heart of the website, the top users, neighbors and recommendations will all be calculated the exact same way in iCM 2.0. That means that only movies in the top lists created by us will be taken into account for those algorithms. New movies will not be taken into account, unless they make their appearance in one of the top lists.

Furthermore, this is an essential feature to allow you guys to create personal top lists. We have very limited time and there have been dozens and dozens of top lists suggested that we would love to add to the website, but for which we cannot find the time. Allowing users to create personal lists only makes sense when new movies can be added, as one otherwise ends up with the same lists over and over again.

The personal top lists are also an optional feature, if you do not want to they will not be shown.

All in all very little changes, so I hope that I have reassured you.

Upon further review of the comments, I quite like The Major's idea: "Will the number of checked movies that do not appear on any list be separated from the number of movies that do appear on lists? That would be great, so we can compare with other people how many "good/popular" and "not so popular" movies we have seen."
