While there is no precise metric to ascertain the importance and significance of a country's cinematic history, let me tell you, that Denmark, along with Germany and France, was one of the early movie industries. Nordisk Film is one of the oldest studios still in use. A great deal of movies were produced with Danish cash.

Further, looking at Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language, Denmark has won the most awards per capita. Same goes for nominations in that category.

And if you look at the newest TSPDT list, Denmark has the third highest amount of entries per capita, only surpassed by Sweden and France - though both of these countries already have a country list (France has 3-4, I think).

I understand that not everyone can be happy about every decision, and in reality, every country should have a country list. However, considering the significance of Danish cinema, it is odd to see lists of Finnish, Romanian, etc. films being favoured over a Danish list. Even Korean cinema has, essentially, three lists, on which 128 movies are on at least two of those lists, and of which 32 are on all three lists, giving a disproportionate importance to Korean cinema.

Also, the change from IMDb to BOM for the box office list is greatly appreciated.

IMDb references for box office were dreadfully inaccurate.

In my opinion, you can never have too many documentary lists.

@MovieDearest Some of us agree that the list should be capped at 500, but when we discussed this on the forum there was more resistance to it than we expected so we decided to leave it as is.

Like you said, that's an awards list, not a country list. Considering countries like Finland, Hungary, The Netherlands, Greece, etc. has a country list, there is no excuse not to give Denmark one. I've seen the poll on the ICMBoard - it's almost a year old. There are two good lists, it shouldn't be that difficult to pick one (or merge them).

Thanks! Good post.

How long does it take for all these changes to populate the various info screens - pages, movies showing as official checks, ratings, awards, etc. No rush, just curious is all.

Thanks again.

I wish the "All-Time Worldwide Box office" list was capped off at 500 titles.

Including this group while excluding that group from official status and the perceived importance connoted by such status is always going to disappoint or offend. Just look at the righteous hullabaloo related to the snubbing of people of African descent in the current crop of Oscar nominees. I'm not sure enough has been done to recognize their contributions to cinema either, and especially in our list of official lists.

Sorry people of (insert name of group or country here), I hear it's more important to have a list of road movies than ...

It's a no-win proposition.
