De fleste av deres filmer hadde et mørkt dramapreg, men også noen komedier føyer seg inn i rekken. Betegnelsen Wam & Vennerød var ofte ensbetydende med filmer som befattet seg med sosialrealisme og hadde en dyster tone og dramatisk slutt.
