Flicker Alley DVD Catalog
Favs/dislikes: 17:0. Flicker Alley is an American DVD company whose primary focus is on releasing films from the silent era, with an emphasis on works of very early cinema (almost half of these titles are by Georges Melies.) In the words of Flicker Alley itself: "Flicker Alley was born out of a passion for cinematic history and a desire to bring filmmakers and films from out of the past to new audiences and renewed recognition. The company was founded in 2002 by Jeffery Masino who drew on a lifelong enthusiasm and fascination with silent, classic, and independent cinema as well as on many years of experience in film and television production and post-production." Missing from IMDb: Thrills For You (1940) from "3-D Rarities" Bolex Stereo (1952) from "3-D Rarities" M.L. François Truffaut's Le Plaisir des Yeux
Favs/dislikes: 17:0. "This book is a collection of essays, some insightful, some brief "fillers." Together it would be hard to rate the grouping as 5-stars, save for a sentimental attachment to Truffaut's work. The book is not just the reflections of the director upon his own work. Nor is it only French cinema. One essay is entitled "The Renaissance of American cinema," and in other essays he looks at the work of Steven Spielberg, Alfred Hitchcock, Woody Allen, Orson Wells, and Charlie Chaplin. Naturally he also looks at the famous French directors, from Jean Cocteau, Jean Renoir and the one man who was so responsible for saving the earlier French works, Henri Langlois. A major section of the book is devoted to essays that relate to the impact of literature on the cinema." -

Highest Body Count Movies
Favs/dislikes: 17:0. Top list from www.moviebodycounts.com. The most unnecessary list, sure, but did you know that the film Commando (1985) only has a body count of 88? And with that it doesn't even make this list. This is the top 1-62 list of films with a body count - on screen kills/deaths - of one hundred or more. Quote: "The "body counts" for this site are mostly "on screen kills/deaths" or fatal/critical/mortal shots/hits of human, humanoid, or creatures (ie monsters, aliens, zombies.)" Please visit the site for precise counts and detailed information about how the counts are conducted. -

This new edition has been revised and updated throughout.
