CFB's 100 Important Directors of Animated Short Films
Favs/dislikes: 36:1. 100 Important Directors of Animated Short Films: Background This list of 100 important directors of animated short films was assembled in late 2008 to serve as a complement to “Brief Encounters,” a proposed list of 250 great short films (both animated and live-action) which was to be developed by the folks at the They Shoot Pictures, Don’t They? website. Unfortunately, that 250-film list is in limbo, leaving our list without a home. The “100 Important Directors of Animated Short Films” list is not intended to be comprehensive. These are simply 100 directors whom we feel are important and deserving of increased recognition by film lovers. For each director, we selected three “highly recommended” movies. In addition, we included a category of “TSPDT 250 Greatest Shorts” to highlight any of these directors’ films which were tentatively slated to place on the abandoned Brief Encounters list. This project was facilitated by Lee Price (lee-109) on the IMDb Classic Film message board. Project team: Lee Price, Robert Reynolds (Illtdesq), Jorge Didaco (jdidaco), Bill Kamberger (bkamberger), and Rob Tomshany (RobT-2), with additional input from animation fans on the IMDb Classic Film message board. -

Composed by feature films from 1907 to 2006 and a few short films from the silent period in Portugal, this list was commissioned by Instituto Camões. 1-37 - silent period 38-156 - feature films Instituto Camões (Camoes Institute) was created in 1992 for the promotion of the Portuguese language and culture world-wide. The list was organized by José de Matos-Cruz, a Portuguese writer, journalist, editor, high-school teacher, investigator, encyclopedist. Since 1980 he works at the Cinemateca Portuguesa (Portuguese Film Archive), in Lisbon. He is a prominent historian of the Portuguese cinema. -

Short films Watchlist
Favs/dislikes: 5:0. A personal list with relatively short films (under 80 minutes) on official lists, that seem to be available online and in many cases have YouTube links in the comments on ICM. For that purpose I made the list [i]public[/i] and will try to add recent links to anything I come across for other users to enjoy. Keep in mind that this is no best of as I haven't even seen these films. Nor does it aim to be complete since for practical purposes I delete movies as soon as I've seen them. But feel free to check some short movies while they're here ;-) That means that in the end there will only be a handful of 80 minutes movies left. Not exactly shorts, I know. Top 250 Most-Acclaimed Short Films of All Time
Favs/dislikes: 106:1. I compiled this list from many different polls, lists, and awards, using a weighted point system to rank the shorts. I'm defining short as any film with a runtime of 45 minutes or less. This list focuses more on animation than the [url=http://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/brief+encounters/]Brief Encounters[/url] list. It includes many acclaimed animated shorts which are missing from Brief Encounters, most notably The Man Who Planted Trees and Ruka.
