    Ladies time to have fun

Favs/dislikes: 0:0. PTP list Recent gender reversal movies reenact prior male dominated stories or themes from a female perspective. But movies that defy women's traditional roles can be traced back to the first half of the 20th century. I collect here some of those emblematic movies that deconstruct the usual subordinated roles of women in cinema. However, this is not a feminist list for one main reason: the recent gender flipping movies are not necessarialy feminist as they may reproduce manly values, like violence and physical force as well as reproducing established gender division.

1001 TV Series You Must Watch Before You Die (2015)

Favs/dislikes: 32:2. This is the 1st edition (October 2015) and the latest addition to the bestselling and highly acclaimed 1001-series. "From "Leave it to Beaver" to "Breaking Bad", "The Honeymooners" to "Homeland", this compilation of important and groundbreaking television shows is packed full of trivia and will be sure to make you want to pick up the remote or start streaming. Selected by an international team of experts and covering a worldwide spectrum of programs from the classics of the 1950s to the cutting-edge shows of today, 1001 TV Series is one of the most comprehensive books ever published on the topic of television." This volume is virtually impossible to finish (as you have to watch every single episode of every single entry). Not to mention many of the shows are still running this very day. If the authors instead chose to focus only on TV-series/TV-Mini-series/TV-movies you might have had a chance, but unfortunately, TV shows - including Game shows, Reality and Talk shows - are also included. NOTE: the book contains some TV-movies or stand-alone episodes from TV-series, but the vast majority of the entries are either TV-series, TV-Mini-series or TV shows. The genres are: Action/Adventure: 43 Animation: 13 Awards show: 3 Biography: 1 Comedy: 246 Comedy/Drama: 31 Crime: 1 Crime/Mystery: 101 Documentary: 18 Drama: 226 Fantasy/Horror/Sci-Fi: 107 Game show: 26 Historical drama: 60 Music/Musical: 13 Reality: 31 Soap opera: 28 Sports: 2 Talk Show: 16 Variety: 22 Western: 13 = 1001 TV-series/shows/movies that, according to the introduction by Robb Pearlman, "could not be included" (it is never argued why): The Winds of War (1983) Lonesome Dove (1989) Requiem for a Heavyweight (1962) [???????] Sybil (1976) Gia (1998) Trilogy of Terror (1975) Duel (1971) V (1983) Recount (2008) Game Change (2012) An Early Frost (1984) And the Band Played On (1993) Brian's Song (1971) Mildred Pierce (2011) Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows (2001). Some entries that most likely will cause some problems in terms of checking them are the Awards shows: Academy Awards (#17), Golden Globe Awards (#50), MTV Video Music Awards (#365) as well as "Eurovision Song Contest" (#32). Instead of adding every single annual event for these shows, I decided to add only the earliest entry I could locate on IMDb (as if you care about those shows and/or will finish this list anyway). NOTE: "1001 TV Series You Must Watch Before You Die" and "1001 TV Shows You Must Watch Before You DIe" have identical entires (1948-2015) - as well as the same page total (960) - although they're two different books. Generally speaking, the only differences between the two books are: - the introduciton is longer in "Shows" (an introduction by Robb Pearlman) whereas "Series" have a much shorter introduction and instead have an additional index (Index by Genre). The "Index by Genre" is not featured in "Shows". - "Shows" is in hardcover whereas "Series" is in paperback. - The front and back cover are different. If you spot any errors (or if any of the abovementioned series/shows I've listed earlier has been added to IMDb), or if you have any questions about the entries or the list as a whole, please don't hesitate to PM me.

Favs/dislikes: 18:0. Based On The 2nd Edition Book Published in 2002 Missing Films On IMDB #138 The Best We Could Do: The Collected Films Of Lamb-Kiss Productions 1988-2000 #383 -The Neon Woman (1970) Directed by Al Bogdan (Missing on IMDB) #1236 - The Weasel That Dripped Blood #1237 - The Ill Eagle Alien #1238 - The Coffee Club #1239 - Puppet Head #1240 - Straining The Angst Amendments: The Original Book Focus' On VHS released tapes, this in some way causes an issue with Double Features/Commercials/Shorts/TV Shows in the way they are presented on IMDB. For television show, VHS tapes would be released in Volumes, not series box sets like how shows are presented today. For TV Shows, I've just included the ENTIRE series of the show. I assumed the writers of the book just mentioned the pilots of these shows just as not to fill half the book with a dozen pages focusing on one show. For VHS tapes that focused on shorts, I've just listed the shorts in order of presentation that was on the box set, unless unavailable on IMDB.

Silent Films #1 - #420 Sound Films #421 - #1363 Underground Films #1364 - #1412 Stand-Alone TV Programs #1413 - 1430 *Not included are TV series where the whole series is referenced but no specific episodes and the section in the Appendix labeled Drug Abuse Films as it contains many duplicates from other sections and many regional educational films that have little to no information about them online. Not on IMDB*: El Cocaine (1930) - Togo Mizrahi Dancing Powder (1911) Dentiste (1897) Lumiere Dope Trade In Chinatown (1910) The Elixir of Life (1911) UK film Fabricants Clandestins d'Alcool (1908) Gontran Emule de Sherlock Holmes (1912) Halbblut (1913) The Horrors of Drink (1901) R.W. Indian film about marijuana Electric Ladyland (1972?) Listed in book index but I can't find an actual reference to it on the page referenced in the index. The Evil Weed (1972) silent comedy directed by George Leonard, producer of the band Sha Na Na. Goldfever (1967) dir. Donald Nestington La Guerre de L'opium (1941) germany-produced Images du monde visionnaire (1964) directed by Eric Duvivier A Lone Assassin (1972) Japanese film about drug addict sister LSD: Viaje al Terror (1967?) Spanish-Argentinian Poison Belt (1935) book references it as an American Sherlock Holmes film but the Doyle source book is a sequel to The Lost World, not a Holmes novel at all. Could be mistakenly referenced. Release (1972) by Wiener Filmkollektiv and features Timothy Leary; anti-heroin film Rhythm of Africa (1960?) Book claims it was "conceived" by Jean Cocteau. I've also seen references to this being released in 1948. The Sandal (1970) https://www.bfi.org.uk/films-tv-people/4ce2b6cd17c15 Sada Kalo (1954) Indian film starring Gurudas Bannerjee Shangri-La (1968?) Indian documentary about Goa Sharks (1975) Book says it features teens getting loaded on the beach in the opening *For Stand-Alone TV Programs and Underground Films, only films present on IMDB were included on the list as both lists included many very obscure films that I could locate little to no reference to anywhere outside this book. Given the author did much of his research at a local library in San Francisco, the possibility exists than many of the referenced films are super 8mm home movies and other amateur productions that make it difficult to determine the source of.

Anyway it's more fantasy than sci.
