Encyclopedia of Indian Cinema (all films)
Favs/dislikes: 6:0. Written by Rajadhyaksha (senior fellow, Centre for the Study of Culture and Society, Bangalore) and Willemen (critical studies, Napier Univ., Edinburgh), this is a one-stop reference book on Indian cinema. Encompassing films in the major Indian languages, this revised edition (originally published in 1994 and updated to 1995) contains entries on directors, stars, producers, writers, and composers and lists birth and death dates, background information, and filmography. A chronological listing of films from 1912 onwards--complete with cast, credits, and plot synopses--is also provided; and black-and-white photographs appear throughout. In addition, a time line chronicles major milestones in Indian cinema, and a chart displays film statistics on both sound and silent films. An extensive bibliography and a name and film index rounds the volume out. These often have separate Imdb IDs.Only one language version of a film exists on this list to not make it too huge and I've tried to select the most known one for this list of all the films in the book. In the sublists for the different languages the movie version for that language is included, which may not be on this list (but is still in the book). #369: The version of Shakuntala (V. Shantaram) in the book is the 122 minute version made in 1943. As this isn't on imdb, the 76 minute version released in the USA in 1947 is the one on this list. #442: The book has put up the 1949 version of '42 (A. Chakravarty), however this version was banned in many cities (but not Bombay). Only the edited 1951 version exists on imdb. #771: While Tero Nadir Parey / Beyond Thirteen Rivers (B. Saha) was made in 1961 it wasn't released until 1969. #774: The book suggests that Velugu Needalu / Thooya Ullam (A.S. Rao) was released in 1961 however imdb has put 1964 as its release year. #968: There's limited info on Uyyale / The Swing (N. Lakshminarayan) but the book puts 1969 as the release date for this, this is mistakenly put as 1964 on imdb. #1580: Mani Kaul's Idiot was made into a 180 minutes film and a 223 minutes mini-series. Only the mini-series exists on imdb. -

Filmography of World History
Favs/dislikes: 45:0. Global in scope and a practical tool for students and teachers of history, Deanne Schultz's "Filmography of World History: A Select, Critical Guide To Feature Films That Engage The Past" includes description and analysis of over 300 historical films. A companion to Grant Tracey's "Filmography of American History," this critical reference book selects movies that represent aspects of world history from the middle ages through the twentieth century. These films adopt as their subject a wide range of historical events, people and societies of Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe and Canada, and Latin America. Over half of the entries provide extended analysis of the historical interpretation the film brings to the screen. "Filmography of World History" argues for the potential of feature films to teach us about the past and its reconstruction in academe and popular culture. The book provides several listings of the films, the one shown here is the cross referenced list by time periods. These are divided as followed on this ICM list: 1 - 19 Medieval (c. 600-1500) 20 - 50 Early Modern (c. 1500 - 1800) 51 - 95 Nineteenth Century (1801 - 1900) 96 - 286 Twentieth Century (1901 - 2000) 287 - 292 Contemporary Note: I have ordered the list chronologically by the years the films deal with within these groups using the years the author has provided. Football documentaries

Various documentaries about association football / soccer / voetbal / fussball / fútbol. - Includes shorts - Does not include series and miniseries (e.g. "A History of Football") - Official movies of the World Cup, Champions League etc. are not included (e.g. G'olé!) - "Official history" documentaries are not included (e.g. "Everton F.C Official History") - Straight up match clips, season reviews and goal compilations (apart from Lumiére's Football (1897)) are not included. - Commercials (e.g. the TMB Panyee FC commercial made by TMB Bank) are not included. Sadly, quite a few football documentaries (City! & The Impossible Job to mention two) are missing from imdb, so this list is some distance from being "complete". Still, if you have ideas for documentaries to add, write a comment. Many of these films are rather easy to find on youtube. However, I have not seen all and therefore do not know how accessible all the entries are, some seem rather obscure based on the number of votes on imdb.
