All extant episodes of Kino-Pravda now available online: https://vertov.filmmuseum.at/jart/prj3/filmmuseum-sammlung/main.jart?rel=vertov_en&content-id=1520614623371&reserve-mode=active

Note that Kino-Pravda 12 is lost. I'm guessing that it was never actually included in the Essential Cinema and should probably be removed from this list.

To be honest, this list really shouldn't include all the Kino-Pravdas - and certainly not a lost film. The source list just mentions "newsreel material," and I can't imagine they actually had prints of all the episodes. They most likely had some compilation reels of Kino-Week and Kino-Pravda excerpts, maybe that MOMA "Kino-Pravda Excerpts" film that's on KG.

Gotta disagree with greenhorg; certainly some of these films may be extremely difficult to find, and heck a few might be "impossible" unless one happens to work at the particular archive where the single copy is kept or whatever - but that's the joy of the hunt! And stuff keeps re-appearing all the time, from out of the dustbins of history.

Are both the Méliès and Lumière versions of Les tribulations d'un concierge really in this list?

The Méliès appears to be lost, and the Lumière seems extremely rare, if it isn't lost too.

Even the top users can't find well over 100 of these films. It's like Vogel and UNESCO. These are not good kinds of lists for this website.

Louis Lumere is my favourite director of all time

I just checked 25 of his movies which are in top lists, within half an hour

looks like a good deal, 25 checks in 30 minutes :)
