Gelencsér Gábor is a film professor at the Institute for Art Theory and Media Studies. He teaches courses in Hungarian film history, Czech and Slovak new wave, and film analysis.

He created two lists, a required film list (50 films) and a recommended film list (100 films). All of the required films are included on the recommended film list. The list is in chronological order and ends in 1995.
