Most of the comments looks racist toward indians/indian cinema. Grow up jerks... Hollywood isn't the only film industry that makes good movies... accept it and move on!! FYI to watch and understand Indian movies ..you need to understand a bit of their culture..You lots are free to criticise them but do it with reasoning.

and about ur question.. lolz u really think none of the chinese/korean movies are crap?? get realistic... there are plenty of them..for example police story series by jackie chan (most of his movies too)... if u call urself a critic of movies then u must agree that they are popular just because of martial arts thingy. Its pure crap and reviewed as so by many. There are hundreds of movies based on kungfu, martial arts and they all have similar stories. i would call that repetative and crap.
So my point is every country has its own style and so-called type of movie making and it should be judged based on its culture and not just its story.

LOLZ@ rang de basanti.. comeon u cant be serious that u didnt like that movie:O .. that movie was based on a social issue in India which am sure being non-indian u aresnt expected to know. It was one of the biggest blockbusters in India smashing many box-office records. FYI i think more than a Billion people liked the movie.. so i guess it says for itself.

Well ur just trying to justify ur point by saying Chinese/koreans are not using Imdb as much as d rest. Thats ur point of view knowing that u aint even a chinese or for that matter an indian to know about the "MOVIE BEHAVIOURS" of the class. And by the way so-called"westerners film goers" you r referring to arent the authority to decide which movies are good or which r bad.The westerners watch chinese/korean movies as they like martial arts/kungfu action movies so the high rating on IMDb. for example... "crouching tiger hidden dragon" !!! FYI ..ur missing the point that diffrent cultures watch movies for diffrent purposes.. As of indians would laugh at kungfu movies, westerners adore them even if the story is repetative and crap. Same way indian drama or romcom movies are loved by people of the sub-continent( bangladesh included) as well as Arabs and turks so the huge number of IMDB votes. :)

Ging chat goo si (police story ) -1985 is on 3 official lists.. with an IMDB score of 7.5. Any serious movie critic will agree that its pure crap. That said what i am trying to explain to you is people of diffrent cultures expect diffrent things from a movie as in some people watch the movie for its action some just for music and perverts would watch it just for the sex appeal of the movie..etc etc.Rarely a movie would appeal to all of its diffrent classes of viewers. Now coming to Rang de basanti i think the message of the movie was for the "youth of india" to do something to contribute to the development of India and not just sit at home and curse the politicians and shit. FYI movie sent a non-violent message to the youth (you wud have understood it if u had paid attention to it rather than criticising the camera quality etc) .Indian cinema is growing and i agree it hasnt caught up with hollywood yet but u should agree that so are many more other movie industries.

@ life as fiction...Well the lists are vote driven. There are many chinese/korean movies which are crap and on many of the lists. Thats because most of its viewers/votes are from people who r chinese/korean themselves. its true Kahaani isnt the best of the movie but still through these impartial lists many of the people have watched it. A movie is a movie be it from any language. We are way beyond the language barrier.

To use the term foreign about any movie on the internet makes you look like a jerk no matter where you come from. I'll emphasise that that's only my personal opinion. But, Slumdog Millionaire is not considered "one of those foreign movies" among American movie fans, is it? Nor is Snatch. If you mean films that are non-english language, say it.

Actually, "Zeltaebar", i agree with you about The Lord Of The Rings. Actually, I dislike the entire series. Then again, that's just my taste though, most people like it.

Donnie Darko is at #46 and falling, while Hachiko just entered this list... :'( that is really sad to me, I'm not even joking.
