He talks about people who watch Fate/Zero before Fate/Stay Night and compares them to people who watch the Star Wars prequels before the originals. He says you don't have to watch the original first, but it'll change the way that you experience the series.
It looks like he is including remakes, because FMA:B and Kanon (2006) are on the list.
GITS:SAC isn't the first GITS anime because the movie came first. I haven't seen the series yet so I don't know if it's necessary to watch the movie first.
Well, not really, I mean, ok, Fate/Zero And G.I.T.S Stand Alone Complexe share the same universe that the original work but have a different storyline. But Steins;Gate or Mushishi or Death Note, for example, are mere adaptation...
Anyway i think you already know that, so that just me being stubborn, i presume you want anime that are not remake or sequel of a previous anime or something like that. I should have get it, the list being an top 50 “initial” serie and not “original” serie, so don’t mind me...
Well, i don't get it...
I mean, many of them are just adaptation from a manga, visual novel or light novel ; so, not really the "beginnings of their respective franchises" or did i miss something ?
You missed Kino's Journey. The prequel film was released 2 years after the TV show.
You might want to consider including One Piece, which is almost the beginning of the franchise. There's just a 29-minute OVA that came before the TV show (although I haven't seen either so I don't know the relation).

Exactly, which is why it's hard for me to say yes or no to it as of now. I'm comfortable with removing it and giving Gankutsuou a much-deserved spot.mjf314
Here's a blog post about Fate/Zero: http://reversethieves.com/2012/04/24/fatezero-spoilers-anakin-skywalker-becomes-darth-vader/He talks about people who watch Fate/Zero before Fate/Stay Night and compares them to people who watch the Star Wars prequels before the originals. Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Kanon (2006) are reboots and independent of their predecessors.Knowledge of the Ghost in the Shell film is not necessary to watch Stand Alone Complex.
Mixed on Fate/Zero, however. The message boards haven't given me a conclusive answer as to whether Fate/Stay Night is a necessary prerequisite or not.

- Added Kino's Journey as the prequel film came after the seriesVeterini: "Storyline" is probably the better term than franchise. Each of these are the first of their respective franchises as an anime series.
mjf314: I've not included One Piece because it has yet to conclude.
