Unsurprisingly this is very 'MURICA! but it's also genuinely well-made, with Bay at his most restrained (which is to say that there's only a handful of gratuitous slow motion, sweeping camera angle scenes). It's such a relief to see action sequences shot by someone who actually knows where to stick a camera and doesn't resort to accursed shaky-cam at every instance, and the film does a superb job of conveying the sheer chaos of a crisis military situation in a foreign country where it is impossible to differentiate between friend and foe. This being said I could have done without the utter contempt that the film has for everyone who isn't a soldier with a gun. It's bizarre to see a movie with almost religious revenance for people who serve their country in one way but such disdain for people who serve their country in other ways.
Had a real hard time trying to unsee Jim Halpert in a warzone.
to see which of your friends have seen this movie!
