Phil Lord and Christopher Miller have been called transgressive directors, who bring movies in Hollywood format and at the same time spread an anti-capitalist message in a subliminal way. That might be said of The Lego Movie for example, but even in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs it is possible - with some imagination - to find this "hidden message". I, on the contrary, tend to agree with John Podhoretz, a conservative and republican journalist for The Weekly Standard who dismissed all the liberal (in the American way) and anti-capitalist interpretations of The Lego Movie and said they all fell into a marketing trap. 'Cause in the end it is the Lego Group who profit and the anti-capitalist who pays and spreads the word of the so-called subversive message, which makes other anti-capitalists pay. So that's why I, as an anarchist and anti-capitalist, won't pay to see movies of the Lord-Miller duo. I download them and rate them poorly. So suck it. In any case, while The Lego Movie was an enjoyable film, it's harder to enjoy the cynical tone and often easy humor of the Jump Street reboots. Although I must admit I did enjoy 22 Jump Street a bit more than the first one. There were some truely humorous moments which appeal to the liberal (again, in the American way) in me. But as with a lot of movies that aim at teenagers and twenty-somethings, it just fell short in so many ways that finally the short-lived moment of entertainment ended as soon as the credits rolled over the screen.
If it's not broke don't fix it.
I already watched it twice, that's shows how much I like it.
This movie makes a great job making fun of it self.
The chemistry is great, Hill and Tatum are very funny, Ice Cube, for me it has one of the funniest scene of the year.
The end credits are also very good, love the cameos, awesome movie for me.
4.25/5
22 Jump Street has such immense fun with the fact that it is a cash-in sequel, exactly in the way 21 Jump Street picked at the fourth wall with the fact it was a television remake, that it can't help but be a success even as it pulls all the old tropes out of the bag. This time, the boys go to college to track a new drug supply, and once again, the split off into different cliques before realizing they're bros (with all the relationship innuendo these kinds of scenes demand). The script manages to come off as knowing and pulls some nice twists on the first film's formula. And then there's the crazy end credits sequence that imagines the next batch of sequels, which is just hilarious. The best thing about a flick that was already a pretty fun action comedy.
This time, the two youthful cops go undercover to a college to bust out the drug racket, the same 'infiltrate the dealer and find the supplier' routine ..
Plenty of male bonding, bromance (bordering on gay), scenes of college fun, some romance and an entertaining finale in Mexico packed with action. The end credits is totally hilarious and closes the movie on a big high.
More expected from Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and the super-funny Ice Cube (what an accent, language) in the coming parts ..
Hill is very funny and the writing is more than enough to almost pass as clever in the current comedy movie landscape. Those two directors know how to make end credits!

Some funny moments. Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are charming enough to keep you watching. End credits are amazing, indeed.lmkmoviemaniac
