Hits a lot of familiar “Christmas fairytale” kind of beats, and does have a TV movie-ish feel to the production at times, but the storyline contains a near-perfect blend of magic, heart, humour, and just enough sadness to add grit, so that the end result is a likeable Christmas film. Wouldn’t be undeserving to become requisite seasonal family viewing. 2 years 3 months ago -

A genuinely heartwarming blend of humor and folklore in a sea of Chritmas duds.
It's simple enough for kids to understand and enjoy and full of more complex themes for adults.
The cast is really well rounded, with good performances by the main children characters.
It's a European production, by the way, and not made by "Americans" despite Netflix distributing it. 1 year 9 months ago -

a good example of americans cherry-picking on the aesthetics of arctic cultures without giving any voice to our actual stories. a bit too long for a children's film, story had nothing original. 2 years 3 months ago
