Starts as a fairly interesting suspense thriller, then suddenly abandons the plot and the characters and turns into a repetitive political lesson that advocates fascism and government sanctioned murder (for the sake of security and order).
Sure, things may be bad in India and people feel that the government is powerless or too corrupt to deal with some issues and this is addressed in some Bollywood movies, but these glorifications of Fascism rather spoil the fun when they're thrown in as the conclusion of films like "Singham" or "A Wednesday".

Not quite the Indian Die Hard it tries to be, but enjoyable by bollywood standards. They seem to only have one sound effect for punches and another for slaps in the film which becomes quite obnoxious as they are played too loud throughout several fight scenes.

Are those that complain about this being a(n IMDb) Top 250 movie just decrying the barbarians are at the gate? (yet again)

Maybe.

A Wednesday had a decidedly made-for-TV feel to it. It was overproduced in terms of shooting with needless camera motion that only served to call attention to the fact they had access to equipment and budget. It was overscored, again, calling attention to the music's suspenseful nature when the story was suspenseful enough to maintain interest. But worst of all was the aggressive sound design, namely in fight sequences, where the excessive sound of the blow came a good two counts after the actual blow is seen.

But do these signify this is a bad film? No. It's a decidedly average action-suspense-thriller. Acting, writing, editing generally work well enough. People who enjoy this type of movie will probably enjoy A Wednesday. It provides proficiently most of what viewers look for in an action-suspense-thriller. It's not an entire waste of 104 minutes if you go for that sort of thing. I generally don't and it sort of held my interest. Kinda. Mostly.

Neither praise nor condemn A Wednesday because of the perception that it is a Bollywood film. Is it? At a mere 104 minutes it's a short by Bollywood standards and given that production company UTV has a decades-old working relationship with Disney and in 2011 was actually acquired by The Mouse, the lines between Bollywood, Hollywood, and Orlando continue to blur.

Consider A Wednesday for what it is and acknowledge your honest reaction to it: you may love it, many do. You may hate it, some purport to feel that way, but maybe you'll be like me and find it largely average (just don't forget to vote). In the coming weeks and months it will make its slow and inexorable exodus from the the Top 250, consigned to the mediocrity of the middle of the bell curve.

PS - It's now five months later and I see it's no longer on the IMDb Top 250 (or, in fact, any list). I should have followed more closely - it would have been interesting to see how long it took to fall away.

"I'm a dropout by choice" would also fit as the subtitle of this movie.

Good movie, with a great twist in the tail. Short and very well-edited, too - a rarity for Indian films.

Nice movie with unexpected turns, a different view at how terrorism can be handled.
