i thought it was perfect the difference between the first and second half. the turning point where he goes to the screen writing conference and then "real movie stuff" starts to happen - gun fights and drugs.

It was always on the brink of crossing that fine line of being too self indulgent but it never really strayed over that line.

Adaptation's postmodern twist definitely appreciated, film and reality intersecting beautifully. It's a movie about writing that movie. As soon as the thriller-writing brother touches the script, the film turns Hollywood, again, a good twist, but it's still the least interesting part of the film. Necessary to make its point, but thriller clich├ęs nonetheless. But there's something else going on, I think. The twin idea seems to have a relationship to the script for "The 3", and the brothers are definitely two sides of the same coin: The anguished artist who wants to create something new, and the deft technicians who knows how to cater to the Industry. Not as unusual as Being John Malkovitch, but a nice piece.

Great film, really stuck with me. Multi-multi-multi-layered story.

Get this: Charlie & Donald Kaufman writes about themselves in a film in which Nicholas Cage playing as both of them, and tells the story of two Kaufmans writing about themselves. Confused? Me too. Love the multi-layered story and have a little bit complaint about how it turns to be a bit thriller towards the ending. Cage & Streep are stunning!

"Awesome performance by Cage, but I thought it was boring until the end."

We found it ladies and gentlemen, the perfect example of irony.

Just what mr McKee ordered.. End it with Bang! Literally. I thought it was subtle slef-refering satire.

As is mentioned here, great first half, decent second half. Thought the ending was kind of dramatic, which I didn't really see coming because the first part is quite ironic and has a very different tone. Still very good, though.
