Definitely an interesting experience. I watched the Revisited Cut on DVD. Some scenes, I was enthralled. Others, I was not happy with the direction that was taken. Wish there was more emphasis on how brilliant (albeit impulsive) of a military commander Alexander was to balance out who he was as a person. Overall, I did enjoy the movie and will probably watch it again soon, but it could have been more.
I actually really like this movie; I know it has gotten many mixed or bad reviews, but I think it's quite good.
Visually it's stunning, of course. Great colours, amazing mass scenes, landscapes and buildings. The fight scenes were impressive - yes, they can get a little lengthy but all in all, they were great.
But I was really impressed by the great actors. Everyone fit their role, but I especially loved Colin Farrell and Jared Leto. They had some great scenes together and their acting was marvellous. Great chemistry.
In general I liked how much the film focused on the characters' inner conflicts, their dreams and fears, on bisexuality and different kinds of love between men.
Great achievement by all the actors.
I don't think I can remember many military strategies in the war scenes, which is really what the film should have facused on. It focused far to much on scandels rather than what gave him the nickname 'the great'.
to see which of your friends have seen this movie!
