Visually interesting but rather dumb. The film struggles at almost every step to find ways to keep the plot going. The character's motivations are shaky and best, and the cause of conflicts between them are shockingly petty. The performances are hammy but entertaining, with the exception of Anne Hathaway, who looks like she really, really doesn't want to be there. In general, there isn't much to it once you strip away the visuals. They are nice visuals though, especially in the finale.

Ahahaha! I wish... Actually it is just another story made and told by white men...
A bad movie anyway.
I am a fan of Johnny Depp and the usual diverse work he does. This film however does not do him justice. The first Alice in Wonderland film was decent with the wonderful effects and imaginative touches, but I found the character to be portrayed in a poor manner. It just does not come across in a cohesive manner. Grant it, I was a huge fan of the original Disney cartoon version so I might be biased in comparing cartoon to live-action remakes. However, I had a rather hard time trying to engage and actively watch this recent adaptation. Once again, effects are superb, but the plot was definitely not as interesting or creative to follow. It's one of those films where you have an all-star cast featuring Helene Bonham-Carter, Johnny Depp, and Anne Hathaway, yet left with disappointment.
