I'm not sure about this one. It's an okay sci fi movie on its own but I wonder if the Alien-series would've been better if they had ended it after Alien 3. The alien hybrid was a bit ... much though.

Now after watching through all the 4 Alien movies I have to say I enjoyed all of them immensely. All of them have a little different style an approach. A little something for everyone I suppose.

I haven't seen any other movies from Jeunet except Delicatessen, and I think this movie has a very similar feel to it at times. I think the fourth movie in the series has more humour in it, but it imho also has one of the most disturbing moments in the series (e.g. the 1-7).

And again, the true monsters of this film are the humans, and compared to them the aliens seem almost likeable.

Compared to the abomination of an entry, and series killer, Alien 3, I kind of enjoyed Resurrection.

Shallow, yes, but entertaining. Especially liked the underwater sequence.

Even though I only consider the first two to be canon (like how I treat the Terminator series), I would watch this one again.

Not as good as the first two films, but a crapload better than the third one (that's not saying much). I know a lot of people don't like this one much but I really enjoy it every time I watch it. I'm very firmly of the opinion that this one has more interesting characters than any of the others and it's a great pity that there wasn't time to go more into some of them more.

With this one re-watched I've now re-watched the entire series in quick succession and I'm ready to watch Prometheus when it opens in a few days from now. :)

I thought The Thing and Brundlefly were the ugliest movie monsters i've seen, but that thing at the end takes the cake.

Nice observation by poppijanne. I agree, the humans are the real monsters. So that’s an interesting take on the alien movies.

I did like this one. A bit quirky and more humour. Less of the continuous walking through dark tunnels being scared.

Agree it was quite ridiculous at times. But still, I enjoyed it a lot.

Terrible and unwarranted sequel to the trilogy, which exists solely to show off special effects and resurrect characters that had fitting ends already. Wynona Ryder is totally lackluster as an android.

Yeah, the movie is bad, just like the third one. Though I have to admit this one is pretty decent if you think Cameron exploited the shit out of the Alien concept, until there was nothing left. Visually this was no doubt the coolest of all four - I liked the way Jeunet restaged all this Giger stuff, it had a fresher mise en scène, lighting, and so on, which resembles more the original one with a better photography technology. What do I know. I think the director-dude knew beforehand that this movie was a case lost, just like Fincher with Alien 3. At the end of the day, the two last Alien movies weren't that bad in comparison to some Terminator, Home Alone, Jurassic Park, Jaws, and a shitload of Hollywood quick-buck, cheap sequels. Kinda a good effort.

Not a good film... but quite enjoyable thanks to a quirky & unusual take on Ripley and the Alien concept. 6/10.

@armyofshadows - I think Jeunet's career was well on track before this (at least in the artsier part of the film industry), and Alien 4 seems like a dead-ended detour in that respect.

The problem is that we've seen most of this before, so the movie goes for laughs and weirdness instead - which doesn't pay off.

Great movie until they introduce the hybrid, after that it's epic suckage.
