Moving and poignant. Edward Norton's best performance. The ending is contradictory but interesting and shocking in its own right.

Very good film. Didn't blow me away like it has a lot of people but there's not a huge amount to fault here. The story with Derek and the black dude he's washing the sheets with felt a little cheesy, like something out of the Green Mile or The Shawshank Redemption, but overall the message was strong and delivered in a very stylish manner.

the story was good, but is were the use of color and the music that made this film great

Second half was ham-fisted, but perhaps unintentionally brings to light how silly an idea it is to pretend we can all get along in a world where people will blow your brains out in a urinal.

The film is really a thing of several parts and doesn't QUITE work for me. And that's why perhaps it insidiously does. Racism is real, and I know it exists in extreme forms like the white supremacists pictured in the film, but it seemed to hit its message a little hard on the head. At the same time, it refuses to give any easy answers as to the root cause of its characters' racism, painting the situation (again, an extreme situation that hinges on gang warfare) as an endless cycle as, if you'll allow me to borrow from the best, sin plucks on sin. Many of the characters are wholly justified in their world view, though only because they ascribe the actions of the few to those of the many. I guess what makes me uncomfortable is how cheesy American History X can become at times while retaining its brutal naturalism. And sorry, but the subplot involving the school principal helping the police looks like it's from another movie entirely.

It's a movie that's unpleasant to watch due to its content, but amazingly good. It shows you snippets of the worst in humanity and a slighter of hope. Shame that idiots like them still exist, but don't experience redemption like Derek.

What a brutal movie! It was a very scary, yet accurate movie on what racism is like in this country and it did a very good job in portraying that as well. Overall, one of the greatest movies I've ever seen.

Amazing!
