Truly excellent documentary about a metal band which after receiving 15 minutes of fame in the 80's faded into obscurity and didn't make it back up. Still sticking to their passion and staying metal well into their 50's, there is loads of emotions in this classic tale of perseverance and friendship.

"Anvil! The Story of Anvil!" won Best Documentary at the 25th Spirit Awards.

I'm happy that Anvil have finally gotten some recognition and the guys have been busy for real since the release of the movie. They've had well known artists like Slash and Scott Ian make guest appearances live, they've played many major festivals like Download (UK) and Loud Park (Japan) and even appeared on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien :)

Oh yeah, they are still kicking ass and have since the movie managed to release one album in 2011 and have finished recording the next one, hopefully out around may 2013 :)

This is not a comedy, but a tragic story of a dream that just won't happen.

    Personally thought it was great.

A documentary where the filmmaker successfully paints a fairly robust picture of why we should care about these guys.

The subjects seem genuine. I'm fairly disinterested in heavy metal music, but the film isn't about the type of music they play. It's about the sometimes very personal and inexplicable reasons why they've stuck with the band for so long in spite of being forgotten. I ended up caring about these guys and the story.
