My first Bresson - and very probably my last. Like most people I actually appreciate it when actors are allowed to express themselves and bring characters and situations to life, and not feel straight-jacketed into giving emotionally flat and listless performances by the director. Only the donkey was reacting with any semblance of reality. That may have been the point, but either way it pissed me off. I disliked pretty much everything about this film and was counting the minutes till it finished. (p.s. also watched Bunuel's "Viridiana" tonight - now that's a great movie.)bilurgher

Solid piece of turd. Not interesting, awfully edited and whatever was the idea for the acting, it was a bad idea. The longest 90 minutes since Marienbad.
