The Fifth Seal is also a painting by El Greco inspired in a passage of the Book of Revelations. Hieronymus Bosch's The Garden of Earthly Delights is brilliantly used in the movie, which is based on Ferenc Sánta's novel. Great one!

Meh, I much prefer the seventh entry of the "Seals" series. Giving each one to a different director was a bold choice, but Bergman really knew how to end the saga.
