The child acting and use of color in this film is amazing. I hope this isn't the last we see of Abraham Attah.

With this film, Cary Fukunaga proves himself an incredibly talented up-and-coming director who should see a long, award-filled career ahead of him. This is a challenging, weighty movie, and it doesn't shy away from the darkness entailed therein. Idris Elba delivers a (as per usual) commanding lead performance, and Fukunaga manages to bring out extraordinary performances out of all of the child actors. Beasts of No Nation would be a courageous risk for any filmmaker, but especially for an up-and-comer like Fukunaga, so I'm very glad that it is a success.

See it on a movie screen because it's definitely not a Netflix 'n Chill-type film.

This story has been told already in multitude of shorts and a few movies, but it was never told with such a haunting beauty.
And as good as the cinematography is the sound editing. That was what really plunged me into the the film.

Beasts of No Nation was fantastic.

Everything from the settinhg, to the storytelling to the cinematography. It was just captivating and stunning.
Its rough, its graphic and its direct, it is almost flawless.

I found it long and predictable.
The actors were good though.

A brutal depiction of child soldiers in a part of the world that rarely attracts significant attention in mainstream cinema.

Idris Elba delivers a fantastic turn as larger than life cult figure, the Commandant.
