I felt they are making more out of the film than either what is needed or what is being asked (for).

The first scene is a great intro (and just as my wife wondered..."wha-" the scene ended to then switch to the explanation.

I think it's a case of "the film/script" is trying to be clever.

I also think they could have let sleeping dogs lie. I didn't feel I needed to see it and certainly held off watching it for months.

I'm not American, hadn't watched the TV show and maybe that was part of it? I was familiar with all the characters/companies mentioned.

The "deeper mind"(?) of Lucille was ...interesting but I think it was over used.

I love "I Love Lucy" a lot. I also love Lucy. What I didn't love was Nicole Kidman as Lucy, Kidman and Bardem are almost 20 years older than Lucy and Ricky at that time, and no amount of makeup will make Kidman look like Lucille Ball, or act like her. I could have done without two hours of Lucy and Desi sniping at each other, and at everyone else on their staff. I'm not even sure that the HUAC situation was a good story to build a movie around. It was terrible, and I plan to forget I ever saw it. 2 years 3 months ago

Javier Bardem is great in this film, Nicole Kidman is certainly not bad either. I'm jus not sure they're great TOGETHER. There's a certain spark missing to their conversations. Moreover, there's a certain spark missing to the narrative here. The premise of this being a peek at the worst week in this storied show's history was intriguing, but then we ended up with 45 mins of backstory that isn't particularly relevant. It's like watching a film about a pivotal WWII battle, but we spend half the film showing the making of the Treaty of Versailles.

That said, there are a number of just AMAZING scenes in this film. I loved many of the scenes, but as a whole they do nothing for me. The film comes off as a weird mish-mash of biopic and behind the scenes Sorkin-isms (including one walk and talk). I think this film might have been a better stage play.
