Honestly, I went into this film with really low expectations, because of all the backlash of it just being a hollow political stunt with no legs. Even though I wasn't exactly blown away, I think this was a solid Marvel film. These are never going to be high art, but boy, do we love em'. BP had the original mcu formular, yet it felt very fresh. The styles and production design, makeup and so on, it brought an element that I hadn't seen much of in big movies. So all of you can go on about black agenda etc, but the fact that this felt so different must mean that it's true, that it is a part of world culture we don't see much of, and that was very cool and fun. Definitely not perfect, but a nice little surprise.

So many people complaining about political correctness and yet from my perspective this movie just wants to teach and open our mind to culture. If you're going to walk into a movie with a mostly black cast and because of that immediately assume it is trying to make political points, you're already setting yourself up for failure. Just open your mind and enjoy it.

(Not talking about people that genuinely disliked the movie, just the people that have used political correctness as an excuse to be biased against it)

Marvel Cinematic continues its streak of superhero hits with Black Panther, a film that doesn't quite manage to shirk off superhero tropes, but still stands as an atypical story, more political and as many have called it, Shakespearean, with a jetset spy feel thrown in early on as well. It's the story of a young king, struggling with the sins of his father, an evolving world, and various antagonists hostile to his regime. The villains are entertaining (Klaw, M'Baku) or have complicated relationships with T'Challa (Killmonger and those who side with him), with shades of the Black Panther movement of the 70s providing rich subtext. Wakanda looks great too, awesome costumes and set designs, and extending the Panther's powers through vibranium makes sense and puts the hero on par with some of the bigger guns. A fun ride, a new world explored, an exciting cast of characters, meaningful themes... I can forgive the third act superhero battle that, especially when the Panthers went totally CG, reminded me of the Battle of Five Armies bloat (is Martin Freeman requiring them in his contract?).

Despite my great admiration for Marvel's actions, I felt boring and ennui as soon as I watched the movie. The movie was in its first half was great, but soon the level of the actors' performance was undoubtedly fell. With this movie, critics' comments were largely exaggerated

Gli animali "selvatici" sono realizzati al computer (anche bene). Cavalli e pecore invece probabilmente sono stati usati (sì, usati) sul set.

Il potere, un tempo esclusivo di una famiglia, viene acquisito da un pretendente legalmente. E allora cosa fanno? spoiler Che tristezza.

Can someone tell me why this is the first superhero movie to be nominated for Best Picture Oscar? Why this is ranked #1 on Rotten Tomatoes?

eh, I feel like this is rated higher than it should be. it's great that it's a basically all black cast with a black director for black audiences so that's wonderful. However the second half is still a stereotypical superhero movie that's quite predictable. the dialogue was poor and the ending wasn't very revolutionary or inspiring. it even basically told minorities not to challenge the system, but to work within it through charity work.

kinda a weak movie and just like everything else in the boring genre of superhero's. but a good step forward for black stories being told on screen so that's nice and likely leads to the high critic ratings.

Thought more about the movie, hoped. I was explained before that it was different from the other Marvel movies, but despite this, the grades only marks the way it does. A really exciting and visually beautiful movie with very good sound - and I love Andy Serkis (Gollum) as a bad guy - but overall it's worse than other of these comic films. The feeling, the whole. I still want it in the movie collection though, have faith!

A great superhero movie (yeah, it's still a superhero movie) that puts men and women of color in the forefront.

Also, all hail Danai Gurira. She is awesome.

I liked it about as much as any other Marvel movie. Hope they continue using the country as a location in future films. Very cool technology/cityscapes.

A pretty average movie held in higher regards by critics just because the cast is black.
