Peaks early on with a performance of Concierto de Aranjuez intercut with boardroom politics but quickly falls into regurgitating a lot of kitchen-sink drama cliches and sentimentality. Characters are situations are all drawn in black-and-white without any nuance. I know the villains are Tories but it does both sides a disservice to have them gloating as they reveal that they're closing down the mine for no reason. 6 years 5 months ago

Brilliant touching film, about a true story, and fantastic acting make this a must see. 7 years 1 month ago

I thought it mattered... I thought that music mattered... but does it, bollocks, not compared to our people matter.

One of Pete Postelthwaite's finest performances.
