Pretty dreadful adaptation of the book.
I can appreciate the need to change the era to the 60s.
Might have benefitted from a longer running time in order to develop the characters a little more. Or a little less in some cases - Phil Corkery seems to have a bigger role than in the novel. Also noted the joining together of various characters in order to save time. Helen Mirren seemed mis-cast as Ida.
Maybe I would appreciate it more had I not read it first, but then again - maybe not.
I have a lot of respect for the cast, but it felt like it was a race to get to the end.
The only real interesting point for myself was the unusual amount of actors linked to 'Joy Division' biopics.
