this is absolutely one of (if not, the best) the best films I've seen.
The pace and dialogue is just amazing. It's also got some of the best performances I've seen in a while.
Some great and memorable characters played by a talented cast. Special mentions to John Leguizamo (Benny Blanco), Luis Guzman (Pachanga), Viggo Mortensen (in an oft-overlooked role as Lalin), and of course an almost unidentifiable Sean Penn in one of his best supporting roles of his career (dare I say even oscar worthy). The only weak performance I'd say would be Penelope Anne Miller's turn as the love-interest.
It's a shame this movie was not a commercial success at the time, but I'm glad people took the time to see it and has since turned it into a cult classic.
A bona fide cinematic masterpiece.
Masterfully shot and composed by Mr. De Palma. Excellent performances by the entire cast (especially the wonderful Mr. Pacino). A script that leaves you shocked, makes you laugh, cry...
The film kept me at the edge of my seat during its entire running time and gave me a smile of optimism at the end (despite its underwhelming finale).
One of De Palma's absolute best. Loved the directing and the performances, especially from Pacino and Sean Penn who delivers some of their best in their entire careers.
