Real Italian classic and masterpiece, as old as I am (!), by Ettore Scola. Ronny Svensson on Swedish TV4: "The world's best movie!", and voted one of the 20 most important films in the world to see before you die!
Fun to have seen it! Certainly you see that it has qualities, this metafilm at times, which flirts with other great directors from Italy, nice humor that steals ideas from the theatre scenes. The quote from the painful reply: "We would change the world - but it was the world that changed us." - summarizes the whole essence of Scola's film; ideals that become illusions, hopes that become obligations...
