Brilliant movie over the life of Ian Curtis. Made me a Joy Division fan...

Less excellent than 24 Hour Party People, but still quite good. Apart from the bleak aesthetic, which I did appreciate, the production itself felt a little too lifeless or sparse. It is possible to have more stuff going on without killing the realism. Additionally, it was disappointing that the soundtrack was not used, in my opinion, to its full effect.

On a random note, I can't believe how well 30-something Samantha Morton pulled off looking 17!

Really don’t get all the praise for this film. Mildly interesting drama. There is no real connection built up with Ian, not much character build. The music plays such a small role that it’s mainly in the background of the long dragging drama. Would have loved to see more of the history of the band and music, and how it fits in that specific period in time, instead of a fairly generic drama..

Still hate Joy Division, but this was a very well-made movie.

This was well shot in black and white, with some dark humour stopping it from becoming depressing, but the enjoyment of this film (as with any films of this type) is directly related to your familiarity and fondness for the subject. I’m not a big Joy Division fan and only have the one album so didn’t get as much out of it as others might.

The first 40m are ok, then it quickly takes a nose dive to the point that by the end you are like. Finally! And what a j€rk he was! Great singer/songwriter but a total idiot! I'm in pain so I'll take my own life ... Pathetic forget the facts that he had right there in the palm of he's hands everything any body alive wants out of this life! A great talent, he was going to make it big (if not huge) in it's career. A not so bad looking wife a daughter... Good riddance.
