A highly original premise is somewhat marred by an overly complicated plot. Still, you can't go wrong with a noir that begins with the following exchange:
"Who was murdered?"
"I was."

Exciting American classic about a man entering a police station and reporting a murder. A murder of himself.
Exciting and unpredictable from its time.

These whistles, what the hell was even that. A few scenes of actors and certainly actresses were clumsy, to be frank.
Otherwise, a quick, sometimes surreal, sometimes over the top little noir with feverish energy. Cool.

I kept putting this one off but I finally watched it. The villain was predictable but the story was fast-paced and engrossing. A very good, recommendable film noir.

The sexist slide whistle sound effects are just one of this films low points.

Heard this was underrated, but actually found it quite boring and predictable.
