---spoiler---
Camera perspective gets further away from the village church in each scene as the scenarios told by villagers get further away from the facts!

This movie is one of the most intense movies. A full package with full of emotions and concepts related to human nature. Much like Bergman's Viskningar och rop in this regard.

This is one of my favorite movies. Deeply unsettling and intriguing. Every frame is a harrowing painting. Haneke at his best. Liked it way more than Caché. Go see it!

I really liked it. You'll like it if you're prepared and in the mood for a slow and subtle movie. I can understand why some people might not enjoy this, though. You must be in a certain mindset and able to be entirely consumed by it, then it's brilliant.

I really did not enjoy this one. I still decided to watch the whole movie because it got so much attention and praise that I wanted to see it. And I'm sure it's a great movie in the eyes of many people, as it adresses the way of life and some serious topics of that particular period - it just did not appeal to me personally.

I didn't like the visual style or the story, neither did anyone of the actors really fascinate me although they did a pretty good job. Just not my kind of movie.

The motivation to "explain" the origin of Nazism is a way too short. Actually is how hierarchy deforms the personality of people. The relation between man and woman or between father and children in the film are like today the relations between the boss an his/her employees.

It's so Bergmanian, it's almost plagiarism.

Very powerful film in the vein of Bergman (particularly reminiscent of the aforementioned's "spiritual trilogy"). That being said, the film has its weaknesses, particularly in its ambiguity... I'm not sure that the message the filmmakers wanted to convey is the appropriate one in the finished production... I'll definitely have to let this one sink in some more though.

It's quite good, but besides it's great look I never found it better nor as powerful as some of Hanake's other films like Cache, The Piano Teacher, Code Unknown, and Funny Games.

Fantastic effort from Haneke, though not as good as Cache. Brilliant. 9/10
