Lee Tracy’s storyline is about as hammy as it gets, but there’s one great scene in the middle of the picture, and other really solid, effective moments throughout, that definitely make it worth a watch.
Synthetic flesh! Not nearly as fun as the sequel, Doctor X meanders its way through some interesting setpieces to an exciting climax. I liked the range of characters, and the mystery is upheld by everyone being absolutely sus. All the flaws typical of 30s Hollywood are present here though: ham-fisted romance, unlikable smarmy protagonist, and a soundtrack ranging from nonexistent to pointless.
