Sometimes I just give up trying to know what the film is about. This is one of them.

Reminds me more of Svankmejer than Gilliam. I just watched it for the first time, and for what it's worth my first impression is that it is a dark contemplation of modern domesticity-- its deadening routines, its banalities, its anxieties, its hopes, its claustrophobia.

It does work. The movie itself was totally beyond me though. Typical Amos Vogel stuff :-p

UBU description: An eclectic collage of film fragments and styles bound together by a shared preoccupation of self-consciousness as being trapped in a cruel world.

It's basically almost exactly like someone cannibalized Terry Gilliam, shat him out and spit in the fecal remains of his face. Following that, the "filmmakers" proceeded to use the dung to finger-paint landscapes of the BP oil spill... in summation, watching this is probably as much fun as injecting liquid nitrogen into my eardrums.
