-Jeez ! Sayles this looks expensive
- so many familiar faces
-the whole thing looks, feels and smells like a worn in baseball glove
-"Snappy" dialogue
-The most cinematic Sayles I've seen
-Everything just flows
-they sure used the hell out of historic Busch Stadium which is now a bunch of apartment buildings
-It evokes a nostalgic aura, a golden past
-it is the opposite of what Sayles usually does
-this one isn't personal, actual and emotional its fantastic, nostalgic and archetypical
-Even the scandal appears golden, humorous
-It is for the true baseball fan
-Baseball is so much more civilized than football, so much more American
-Gentle, muted, jaunty and crafted with real care
-Sayles is one of the truly great American directors. He makes a film from a place of love for humanity
-He isn't some soulless businessman like Fincher , Cameron, Spielberg or Nolan
-He isn't some effete dilettante like Sofia Coppola, Wes Anderson or Noah Baumbach
-He isn't some misanthropic, violent, guilty schoolboy like Scorsese
-He is just a nice guy who makes honest worthwhile films 2 years 3 months ago -
