With John Wayne, Robert Mitchum and James Caan onscreen and Howard Hawks directing it, you'd expect something a bit more memorable than this. Nevertheless, it's a very joyous picture for a rainy afternoon. 10 years 4 months ago -

We've all seen those westerns that just aren't very good. You know what I mean, the characters aren't particularly memorable and the plot just drags on and on. El Dorado is a very good exception. The characters are well rounded and fleshed out, action and gunslinging is great, and the plot is tight with not too many pacing issues. Definitely a fine western. 4 years ago -

Loved the humorous banter between Wayne and Mitchum and Wayne and Caan. It made for a lighter yet still rugged Western. Besides, who says cowboys don't have a sense of humor? 7 years ago
