Good fun and a cool soundtrack but I'm not sure there's much more here than that. The dialogue is nowhere near as intelligent as Linklater thinks it is and even in a bro film he can't resist inserting his own brand of tiresome stoner pseudo-philosophy. One day he'll write someone that isn't himself. There's also very little individual characterisation within the team, so that I resorted to differentiating between characters based mostly on their facial hair and what level of douchebag they were. Sadly not even that worked however as it became increasingly obvious that not only was everyone equally obnoxious but they all had the same fucking moustache. I can definitely see where Mark Kermode was coming from in that these aren't really people I want to spend two hours with, but at the end of the day there's a breezy and good-natured style to the film that keeps it afloat, even when our protagonists are doing some pretty loathsome things. A nice ride but not one I want to take again. 4 years 2 months ago
This film is so cool, and laid back and I was watching it on a hot summers evening and after I got some nice dessert and everything was extremely fitting and nice.
I love films that are simple and sweet and a taste of life that was one before. 3 years 8 months ago
Richard Linklater completed his ultimate Slacker-Movie-Trilogy :D 4 years ago
