I think the podrace in The Phantom Menace is inspired by the race in Flåklypa.

I bought the remastered DVD from the Caprino website (http://www.caprino.no/shop/en/) based on the number of lists this appears in, and I wasn't disappointed at all - a wonderful, fun film, and a pretty heavy influence on Aardman Animations, I reckon!

Fun, charming and creative! No wonder this film is considered a classic as well as being the most beloved norwegian film of all time.

The race-sequence has become one of my favorite scenes ever :)

What a fantastic little gem of a movie! The story may have lapsed in places but the humor and the intricacy of the visuals were more than accommodating...and all that while sober!...just imagine this movie with, shall we say, some enhancement

Thanks to mortom for the tip — I ordered the Blu-ray from the Caprino site and also was not disappointed. (They even threw in an extra disc containing the making-of documentary with English subtitles, which is much appreciated.)
