Brilliant concept in a somewhat moving story.
Any time children are made lead characters, the alarm bells start ringing, but Joey Cramer did a great job. Casting Pee-Wee Herman as the ship's voice was an unfortunate decision, yet understandable when you consider era and the target demographic, and it's even more understandable when David enters the ship
and the mind transfer goes haywire. The script sadly goes haywire as well at that point.
The effects are dated for sure but hold up pretty well.
All in all, it's a solid, fun, family friendly entertainer which conveniently avoids bogging itself down in technicalities.
