Shannon and Poots are both fantastic but considering this is billed as a "psychosexual noir" the story felt surprisingly tame and restrained, never capitalising on the potential of the mysterious setup. At the same time however the plot developments are too absurd and melodramatic to allow the film to function as a low-key character drama, which is a shame because that's just how Shannon plays it. The movie ends up in an uncomfortable, somewhat dull middle ground. Enjoyed the photography and the use of the Vegas setting however.
