This has a little bit of comedy in it, but for a movie about someone who becomes a successful comedian, the story is very light on what actually makes the main character funny - they just magically arrive on stage fully formed without any build up. There's a big hole in the story in regard to this aspect.
Drama is the main ingredient, but it isn't a fun movie to watch.
Definitely an antidote to a Hollywood version of the same subject matter, but too grim for most audiences, I would say. 5 years 4 months ago
